Privacy Policy

Privacy, written for how our products actually work.

Last updated: 2026-04-25

Borderfree Apps builds products that reduce friction across language, memory, distance, and constrained environments. This policy explains how our current products handle data today, how third-party services may be involved, and how we will communicate any future server-side features before they are introduced.

1. Scope

This policy applies to Borderfree Apps websites, mobile applications, and related services, including current products such as Currency Lens, See Text, Memoirgram, and Acoustic Text, as well as future products published under the Borderfree Apps name. If a specific product or feature has additional privacy details, those product-specific details supplement this policy.

2. How our current products work today

Our current products are designed so that core user content is processed primarily on the user’s device. In general, camera input, recognized text, photos, audio, or similar content used for core app features is not uploaded to Borderfree Apps servers unless we explicitly say otherwise for a particular feature.

3. Future products and future cloud features

Some future Borderfree Apps products or optional features may require server-side storage or processing, for example to support accounts, synchronization, backups, collaboration, or cloud-powered services. If we introduce those capabilities, we will update this policy and provide product-specific disclosures explaining what data is involved, why it is used, how long it is retained, and what choices users have before that processing begins.

4. Third-party services, ads, and infrastructure

Some products may use third-party services such as exchange-rate providers, advertising SDKs, crash or performance tools, hosting services, or other infrastructure providers. When these services are used, they may process limited technical or advertising-related data needed to operate their services, such as IP address, device or app identifiers, crash information, performance data, or ad interaction data. Their own privacy policies may also apply.

5. Why data is used

Where data is processed, it is used to operate app features, maintain reliability and security, provide optional convenience features, support advertising where applicable, and respond to support requests. We do not sell personal information, and for the core functionality of our current apps, we do not upload user content to our own servers unless explicitly stated.

6. User choice and permissions

Users can generally control permissions such as camera, microphone, photos, or location through device settings. If a permission is denied, some features may be unavailable or limited. If we introduce future server-based features, we will describe any additional controls, account settings, or deletion options that apply to those features.

7. Retention and deletion

For our current apps, most user content remains on the device and can typically be removed by clearing app data, deleting local content, or uninstalling the app. If a future product or feature stores data on Borderfree Apps servers, we will provide product-specific details about retention periods and available deletion methods.

8. Children's privacy

Our products are not directed to children under 13 as a primary audience. If you believe a child has submitted personal information to one of our products inappropriately, please contact us.

9. Updates and contact

We may update this policy as our products evolve. If we make material changes to how data is processed, especially for new server-side features, we will update this policy and, where appropriate, provide additional in-product notice. If you have questions about privacy, data handling, or accessibility concerns, please contact us at borderfree.apps@gmail.com.
